Do you offer tuition in my area?
We operate in West London and South East England so please contact us to see if we can help you. Sometimes students who live a little further away will arrange less frequent but longer sessions to minimise the travelling time.
How much does tuition cost?
Details of our rates can be found on the Tuition Rates page.
What qualifications do your tutors have?
All of our tutors have, at least, a degree in the subject(s) they tutor. All are, or have been, teachers and all have tutored extensively.
Will the tutor travel to my home?
Students generally travel to the tutor’s house. However, some of our tutors will travel to the student’s home for a small additional fee.
How do I request tuition?
Phone us on 01252 67623 or 01276 22454, use our contact form or email us at email@example.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible to discuss your requirements in more detail. We will then contact our most suitable tutors regarding their availability. Once we know which of our tutors is able to help you we will ask the tutor to contact you and if you are happy with our choice you can arrange tuition.
Payment is made directly to the tutor at the start of each session. Payment is usually cash, but by mutual agreement can be a cheque or BACS payment.
Do I have to pay to find a tutor?
No. There is no registration fee.
Are the tutors vetted?
All tutors have to provide us with copies of their academic/teaching qualifications and valid CRB Enhanced Disclosure/DBS. They also provide us with the names and addresses of 2 referees, one of which must provide a teaching/tutoring reference.
What qualifications do I need?
Our tutors must have a degree in the subject(s) they wish to tutor. Also, all tutors must have considerable tutoring/teaching experience within the UK educational system and be completely familiar with the UK examining Boards (EDEXCEL, OCR, AQA and WJEC).
How much will I earn?
£6.50 per hour is deducted from the AS/A2/IB tutoring rate and £5.50 per hour for other tutoring to cover the administration costs.
How many hours will I have to work?
You will be able to choose how many tutees you teach as you are free to accept or decline tuition jobs. You are also free to work for any other tutoring agency.
How am I paid?
The student will pay you at the start of each session – usually by cash although a cheque can be accepted by mutual agreement. A monthly timesheet must be completed and sent to Science Tutors, along with the total administration fee for that month.
Are you recruiting?
Yes. We are always keen to recruit new tutors from across West London and South East England.
How do I apply?
You can apply to become a tutor form by phoning us on 01276 22454 or 01252 67623, using our contact form or emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
